Mas Fukushima

 

Fukushima, a native of Geraldton, Ontario, attended UW-Superior from 1972–1975 where he gained All-American recognition three times. In 2012, he was selected to the WIAC all-time team and was inducted into the UW-Superior Athletic Hall of Fame.

Following a  brief professional career, Fukushima coached Superior High School to two titles during a seven-year span. He continued coaching in Owatonna, Minnesota where he also began the girls’ high school program.

While coaching the Superior Spartans, Fukushima continued playing with the local senior men’s team. He led Superior to four straight state titles in the early 1980s. He scored the game winner in overtime against Mosinee three times.

He is currently the head coach for the Waterloo Black Hawks.
