Jim Sanborn

 

A native of Eagle River, Jim grew up in a hockey family. His father, Gib, was one of the first members inducted to the Wisconsin Hockey Hall of Fame.

Jim played hockey through high school including playing on the 1960 Eagle River High School team that won the state tournament. He began refereeing hockey in 1965 and continued doing many youth, high school, and senior games for the next twenty years. He was selected to referee WIAA State High School hockey tournaments in 1978, 1979 and 1984.

He also coached youth hockey in Eagle River for many years. He was instrumental in running the Eagle River summer high school hockey league and the WAHA state bantam camp.
